As the United States prepares to celebrate its 250th anniversary in 2026, Greater Miami and Miami Beach are getting ready to honor this historic milestone with a yearlong series of cultural events, patriotic celebrations, exhibitions, and community experiences.
Founded in 1896 by Julia Tuttle — the only major U.S. city founded by a woman — Miami has grown into one of the nation’s most vibrant and culturally diverse destinations. The America250 celebration will showcase Miami’s unique identity through events that highlight innovation, history, diversity, and community spirit.
The celebrations will begin during Memorial Day Weekend with the iconic Hyundai Air & Sea Show on Miami Beach, featuring military demonstrations, live entertainment, offshore powerboat racing, and patriotic tributes along the coastline.
Throughout the summer, Miami-Dade County will host “Miami-Dade 250,” a program featuring educational initiatives, cultural events, community partnerships, and family-friendly celebrations. One of the major highlights will be the official Fourth of July event at Tropical Park, offering live music, food vendors, activities, and fireworks.
The City of Miami Beach will also host special America250 events, including patriotic exhibits, community festivals, line dancing celebrations, and fireworks displays across South Beach and North Beach. Meanwhile, Downtown Miami’s popular Fourth Fest at Bayfront Park will once again bring together residents and visitors for live entertainment and waterfront fireworks over Biscayne Bay.
One of the most anticipated cultural experiences will be the arrival of the National Archives’ traveling exhibition, Freedom Plane National Tour: Documents That Forged a Nation, hosted at the Museum of Miami from June 20 through July 5. The exhibition will showcase historic documents that helped shape the United States.
